METHODS DESCRIBED.

Making use of illustrated slides and a rotating frame, Dr. D. Brown, senior lecturer in physics at the Auckland Uni. versity College, gave a very interesting lecture in the University College hall last night when he dealt with the methods by which pilots of aircraft can effect successful "blind" landings by following an invisible beam. He also explained how an aircraft in flight could j be located when many miles from view, xhe attendance numbered about 70. and I Mr. A. H. Johnstone, K.C., presided. Dr. Brown explained that the earliest \ins of determining the direction of transmitter was by the rotating loop frame aerial and this method was 111 the most widely used although, for articular purposes, it had been super.eded by better types. The lecturer also [ described the direction finding equipment used in aircraft, and on ships and land.
