OBITUARY.

MR. GEORGE TODD. DUNEDIN, this day. Well known in business and golfing circles in Dunedin, Mr. George Todd has died, aged 90. Mr. Todd was born in Scotland and came to New Zealand in 1862 with his parents, who settled at Opawa, Christchurch. Mr. Todd became engaged in the stock agency and auctioneering business and was at Barclutha and Invercargill before he was appointed to the chairmanship of the Assets Board in 1896. This position he occupied for ten years, living in Wellington. After the work of the board was completed, Mr. Todd went to Dunedin as manager of McLeod Brothers, Ltd., and held the position for 15 years. He accepted a seat on the board of directors after his retirement and remained a member until his death. From the early days of the game in Dunedin, Mr. Todd was an enthusiastic golfer. He was largely instrumental in securing the Balmacewen golf course property for the Otago Golf Club and was an honorary member of the club.
