ELLERSLIE TRIALS.
ON HOLDING TRACK. NUNA AND BRAHMAN. THE BEST THREE FURLONGS. The semi-final gallops for the Avondale meeting took place at Ellerslie this morning on the Xo. 2 grass, the going being very holding as the result of recent heavy rain. There were no particularly fast tunes registered, the best being that of Nana and Brahman over three furlongs, ! while Golden Bonnet and Bournemouth also worked well over a similar distance. Moneyspinner and Rara Avis went well over five anil Koyal Message and Liandaff impressed while traversing the same ground. Sir Cameron and Bronze Fire went particularly well over six furlongs, aa did Odtaa, while Kelly did best over a round. Nuna (McTavish) and Brahman (Vaughan) reeled oft three furlongs in 395. There was not much between them and both worked well, particularly Nuna, who is engaged in the Avondale Stakes. Golden Bonnet (Manson) walked round to the three-furlong post and came home In 39 2-ss. She will probably lace on the second day at Avondale. The maiden Bournemouth (Trcmain) occupied 40s for a similar task. This three-year-old much improved as the result of his trip to Ti ranaki. Kings Plight (Williams) got to the end of Ihe same distance in 41 3-5s and Romani (Spick) beat Baloshiel (Kerr) over three furlongs in 39 4-ss. Moneyspinner (Vaughan) beat Desert Time (Poad) by a couple of lengths over five furlongs in 1.6 2-5. the last three in 40 2-ss. Moneyspinner worked with more dash than usual. Rara Avis (Vaughan) was timed to cover the distance in 1.6 4-5, the last half mile in 52 4-ss. He worked very easily and should not take long to lose his maiden status. Royal Message (Vaughan) got the better of Phil Vaals (Gilchrist) at the start, but waited on her companion and beat her home by several lengths in 1.1 1-5. the first two taking 26 2-ss. In a similar task Liandaff (Messervy) took 1.7 3-5. the last three in 39 3-ss. Sir Cameron (D. Green) and Bronze Fire (Messervy) impressed while running six furlongs in 1.19 4-5. the first three in 38 4-ss. Th»v finished clear of Phaleron (McTavish), Rex Mainland (Hearn) and Brazilian (McGill). Sir Cameron has come on fast of late, and should give a good account of himself in the Avondale Guineas. Odtaa (Gilchrist), who is engaged in the Champion Plate, was running on solidly at the end of six furlongs, which took 1.20 2-5. beating Master Warden (Spick) by a good margin. Kelly (Gilchrist) got to the end of a round in 1.49, being assisted over Hie last six furlongs by Rival (Messervy). The latter distance took 1.21 4-5. and they were together at the finish. Other gallops were:—Three furlongs.—Golden Pay (Gilchrist), 435. going very easily. Poland (Vaughan) and Landveyor (Wiggins) 40 2-ss. Prival (Wiggins) 42 2-ss. Rue de Paix (Messervy) 44 2.55. Final (Williams) 425. Four furlongs.—Perttnax (Markwick) and Penron (McTavish) 54 l-ss. the last three In 41 l-ss. Hinehau (Tremain) 565, the last three in 42 l-ss; Akanora (Fearn) and Softly (Ryan) 545, Village Green (Neil) 52 4-ss. Five furlongs.—British Mint (Pell) was holding Mimax (Green) 1.7 4-5, the last three in 41 2-ss: Mia Reglna (McTavish) shaded Biddy Girl (Ryan) 1.8, the first two in 26 4-ss; Hot Shot (Messervy) last five 1.10 4-ss, last three in 425; Bide-a-Wee (Spick) 1.11 1-5, Milanion (Vaughan) 1.8 2-5, «he last three in 41s; Happlcoat (Gilchrist) 1.9 1-5, the last three In 42 1-5; Natal (Tremain) beat Maori Star (Spick) 1.9 2-5, the last three in 42 2-5. Six furlongs.—Calula Boy (Gilchrist) and Tybalt (Speck) 1.23. the first two 26 4-ss; Veyana (Cammick) impressed more than Miss Bridge (Kerr) 1.21 4-5. first three in 40s; Beeswing (Kerr) 1.24 4-5. Seven furlongs.—Miss Valerie (Wiggins) and Bronze Emerald (Messervy) 1.38 3-5. the first three In 41 3-5. There was not a great deal between them at the finish. Round.—Aero King (McTavish) 1.56, the last half-mile In 56, easily. Marchby (Thomson) 2 3 3-5, doing it easily throughout. Royal Appellant (Buchanan) and Kena (Poad) 1.42 the last seven furlongs, never extended: Valspear (Messervy) 1.54 2-5, last six in 1.26 1-5; Silver Glow (Thomson) 1.51 1-5, assisted by Rajanya (Gilchrist) over the last six furlongs in 1,23. Clinch, Valmint and Goldrace were given serviceable tasks. THE JUMPERS. Boy Lu (Turner) was sent over four hurdles. He did not have much pace on, but Jumped safely. Rlngshot (Baker), Vaalso (Turner) and Agog (Fergus) were associated over four fences, giving a fast and clean exhibition. Additional riding engagements are: A.
