STRANDED HOCHST.

Hopes Of Saving Steadily Diminishing. DANGER OF BREAKING UP. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 11 a.m.) COLOMBO, September 29. «• Hopes of saving the German steamer Hoehst, stranded on Minicoy Island, 400 miles from Colombo, are steadily diminishing, depressing reports having been 'received from the Hercules and the Olivia. After a strenuous week's fight, day and night, with water rushing through the holes in the ship's sides the crew are completely exhausted and cannot hold on to the pumps much longer. There is danger of the vessel breaking up as the weather is rough and she has pushed further on to the rocks. Attempts to tow her off have failed through the hawsers parting.
