LAWN TENNIS.
MANGERE CENTRAL CLUB. OPENING OF SEASON. Nearly two hundred players and visitors attended at the Mangere Central Lawn Tennis Club's courts for the official opening of the season on Saturday afternoon. Among the visitors were representatives from several Auckland clubs, Mangere liast, Papatoetoe, and ' Onehunga, also Messrs. S. W. House and S. Ilickards, riding members of the Manukau County Council. Mr. M. B. Kirkbride, the • president, welcomed the visitors, speeches also being made by Messrs. House, Ilickards and Griilitlis, who congratulated the members upon the condition of the courts. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the ladies. In i the evening a dance, held in the Central Hall, was also largely attended. TUAKAU DOMAIN CLUB. * TUAKAU, Sunday. The Tuakau Domain Tennis Club held their official opening of its courts yesterday. There was a large attendance of enthusiasts, and the club's three courts were fully occupied throughout the afternoon. Mr. L. Logan, vice-president, declared the courts open for play, and Mrs. A. G. Welch served the first ball. DARGAVILLE CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILE, Sunday. About fifty players were present at the official opening of the Dargaville Tennis Club yesterday. ' Although the cold weather conditions, were 'hardly conducive to good tennis, some interesting games resulted. The president, Mr. T. C. French, in declaring the courts open for play, wished the club a prosperoue year. Players were pre'sent from clubs from all parts of the j Northern Wairoa. TE KUITI CLUB. (By Telegraph.—Own TE KUITI, Sunday. At the annual meeting of the St. Andrew's Tennis Club, Te Kuiti, the following officers were elected: President, Rev. Ross; vicepresident, Mrs. Perry, Messrs. Perry, Bathgate and Archer; secretary and treasurer, Mr. L. C. K. Boyes; management committee, Misses N. Darvell, Jackstn, Perry, White, Smith, Messrs. McKenzie and T. Collins. It was decided to hold the opening day on October 19. PAPAKURA METHODIST CLUB. At the annual meeting of 'the Papakura Methodist Lawn Tennis Club officers were elected as follow: Patron, Rev. Elliott, nresident, Mr. R. East; vice-president, Mr. Seaton; secretary, Mr. R, Coldicutt; treasurer, Miss M. Mack; committee, Mrs B. Huckstep, Misses H. Meams, I. Richardson, and Mack, and Collicutt, Seaton, R. Garaghty, and W. Kitson. It was decided to open the courts for the season on October 5.
KEREPEEHI CLUB.
PAEROA, Friday. Presented at the annual meeting of the Kerepeehi Tennis Club, the balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £31, though the Km in hand at the beginning of the season waa only £1. Officers were elected as fol-rOws--President, Mr. N Clay; secretary, Mr P Innis; vice-presidents, Messrs. i*. Boswell and R. E. Wentworth; executive committee Mesdames Clay Stanstill, Rogers, Miss Douslin, Messrs. S. Collinson, C. Murray and G. Crisp; auditor, Mr A. Gillespie. The positions of selector and delegate were not filled. It was decided to open the season on October 19.
