POPULAR BANK MANAGER.
.. PRESENTATIONS TO MR. J. B. HENRY. Evidence of the popularity of Mr. J. B. Henry, who retires from the managership of the Bank of New Zealand to-day, after holding the position for six years, has been forthcoming during the past few days, when Mr. Henry was made the recipient of presentations. On Thursday between 40 and 50 prominent Auckland business men, and bank customers, assembled in the board room at the bank and presented Mr. Henry with two wardrobe trunks, four travelling bags, and two rugs. Mr. W. B. Leyland, who made the presentation, spoke highly of the esteem in which Mr. Henry was held and of the appreciation of the help and advice he had always been ready to give. Replying, Mr. Henry said he never could ho,ve belic-vcd he would hs,ve been given such a reception. While lie looked forward to giving up work, he felt it would be a great strain to sever the happy business relations ho had formed in Auckland and elsewhere. He prized most highly the kindly feelings which had led to the function. On Friday the staff's of the Bank of New Zealand presented Mr. Henry with a beautiful silver salver. In making the )resentation Mr. H. R. H. Chalmers said that all regretted Mr. Henry's retirement. He had had 49 years' banking experience, and last six with the Bank of New Zealand. No happier period had been enjoyed by the staff. Their, troubles were also the troubles of Mr. Henry. All wished Mr. Henry, his wife and daughter a very pleasant trip Home, and hoped to sec them safely return after an enjoyable holiday. Mr. L. Brinkman also spoke, and after Mr. Henry had replied three rousing cheers' were given.
