DEPARTING DIOMEDE.
MANY VISITORS YESTERDAY. OFFICERS CHANGING OVER. Many people visited H.M.s. Diomede yesterday alongside the Central wharf, where she will remain uutil she sails for England at 11 o'clock on Wednesday morning next. Much interest was taken in the paying off pennant, which grows longer each year a ship stays on the stio, and finishes up by being so long that it.has to be provided with a bladder so that the trailing end will float in the water. In the old days when warships had masts it was most effective to see the pendant blown out by the breeze describe a graceful curve from the truck to the tide. Cavan, Commissioned Gunner J. Smith, Commissioned Gunner W. A. R. Imrie, Warrant Engineer C. E. Seats. Officers appointed to the Dunedin are: Lieutenant J. Terry, PaymasterLieutenant W. J. G. Prophit. Commander R. E. Jeffreys, D.S.C.. LieutenantCommander G. C. Harper, Lieutenant O. \ V. Gladstone, Lieutenant R. F. Jessel, Lieutenant J. T. C'urrie, Captain M. H.
