A GREY LYNN COMPLAINT.
I wonder if any other pedestrians who use Commercial Eoad as a means of getting to Grey Lynn from Kingsland, or vice-versa, have noticed the disgusting state of the steps. Not long ago men were put to work on them, but they do not seem to have been much improved. It would be quite simple for anyone to twist an ankle and fall, perhaps breaking a leg or worse. At night it would be much easier to fall, as there is a hedge at the foot extending nearly half-way up, that completely blocks out any light from adjacent lamps. A man of average height has to stoop quite low to miss the branches. It is a pity that the council does not put in concrete steps with handrails on the outside, and have the hedge removed, before any accidents do happen. A PEDESTRIAN.
