THE SCOTTISH SABBATH.
The rebuke to the Duke and Duchess of York by the Free Church of Scotland for attending an ambulance display on a Sunday was referred to by the Rev. D. C. Herron in an address at St. David's Presbyterian Church last evening. Since English companies had taken over the Scottish railways they had played havoc with the Sabbath, said Mr. Herron. On one occasion it was proposed to run a boat excursion on a Sunday to the Isle of Skye, but it did not eventuate, the minister stating- that he would organise a band of young men to resist the landing of the picnickers. It mifht seem ludicrous to do such a thin<*,°6aid Mr. Herron, but it was just this° spirit .of determination to stand by the consequences of resisting evil that had made the Presbyterian Church a force to he reckoned with.
