COUNTY CLERKS , REUNION.
The annual meeting of the Auckland Provincial branch of the New Zealand Institute of County Clerks was held hist night. Mr. C. A. Cawkwell, who presided, gave a resume of the operations of the executive during the past twelve months. Reference was made to the fact that a Bill had beein prepared for submission to the Legislature giving status to county clerks and providing for registration and examination, but this Bill would not be dealt with until next session. In accordance with the constitution requiring bi-annual election of officers, a new executive was elected as follows: President, Mr. Edgar Ashcroft (Manukau) ; vice-president. Mr. L. J. Verry (Kodney) ; executive, Messrs. A. Bellingham (liotorua), E. A. Mahoney (Hauraki Plains), C. A. Cawkwell (Waitemata), T. B. Insoll (Waikato) ; secretary and treasurer. Mr. -F • C. Perry (Waitomo) ; auditor, Mr. E. G. Aickeii (Otamatea). At the conclusion of the business an adjournment was made to the Mecca Cafe, where the annual dinner was held and various toasts honoured. Addresses were given by Mr. Hugh Wylie, Chief Audit inspector; Mr. K. Graham. Commissioner of Crown Lands (South Auckland), and Mr. 0 X. Campbell, Commissioner of Crown Lands' (Xorth Auckland). Mr. Andrew Murray, A.M.1.C.E., contributed a humorous reading entitled "An Essay on Scotland." Vocal items were rendered by Messrs. J. Mills, J. IX. Webster and T. W. Woods, Messrs. S. Shelton and W. I. Cawkwell acting as accompanists.
