BOXER'S SUDDEN DEATH. BRITISH FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION (Australian Press Assn. —United Service.) (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, September 27. The British flyweight boxing champion.. Johnny Hill, died suddenly. He was training for a fii>lit next month. I Hill was a Scot, and last year was claimed by British boxing writers as the flyweight champion of the world, although the claim was never officially recognised in America. Hill was at the top of his form when at Paris he beat Newsboy Brown, one of the leading little men in America, but early this year he was knocked out by Emile Pladner in the French capital. On that occasion Hill left Scotland for France only the night before the fight, and, according to his supporters, was a long way from the top of his form. Pladner subsequently stopped Frankie Genaro, of America, in one round, in a match billed as the flyweight championship of the world, but the Frenchman lost to Genaro on n foul in a return match. After his defeat by Pladner Hill had a long lay off until a few weeks back, when he met Ernie Jarvis at Glasgow, to win on a foul. As a boxer Hill was the equal of any man in England, while ho carried as heavy a punch a.s any other man in his division. He was a master judge of distance, and an attractive fighter, but had little defence for either a right or left swing. After his fight with Jarvis it was reported that Hill appeared to have .'lost some of his former confidence, doubtless a result of his dramatic defeat by Pladner earlier in the year. U.S.A. BOXING. MALONEY LOSES AGAIN. (.Australian and X.Z. Press Association. ) XEW YORK, September 27. In a boxing match between Maloney and Gagnon the latter won on a foul in the seventh round.
