RAVAGES OF WAR Siberian Town Facing Terrible Privations. NO FOOD; WINTER COMING ON. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 9.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, September 27. "With the city's food supply almost completely cut off as a result of the recent fighting , on the Manchuriau border and with the approach of winter, the population of Blagovestchensk are facing starvation. The town, which is one of the principal points on the Amur River, is situated on the Russian side, opposite the Chinest. town of Taheiho, which previously supplied most of the food and clothing to this Siberian town. With the communications severed, however, the food supplies practically exhausted and the temperature along the border already below freezing point, terrible privations are feared. In the meantime the situation is quiet and slight skirmishes only are reported.
