" Saved Palestine From Disaster." SIR J. CHANCELLOR'S PRAISE. (Australian Press Assn. —United Service.) (Received 11 a.m.) JERUSALEM, September 27. Inspecting the farewell parade of the British volunteer police, the High Commissioner, Sir John Chancellor, said thai Palestine would not forget their services. The British section of the police, backed up by the volunteer special police corps, had saved the country, at the worst from disaster, and at best from the prolongation and extension of the disturbances. SENTENCES PASSED. HOLY LAND RIOTERS. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) JERUSALEM, September 27.' Nearly 600 rioters were sentenced to terms of imprisonment ranging from two months to two years. Some were committed to the Assizes on capital charges.
