SILENCE BROKEN.
BALDWIN'S WARNING. Real Test For Labour Regime To Come. HOME AND FOREIGN POLICY. (Australian Press Assn. —United Service.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 27. Mr. Baldwin broke his political silence to-night with a statement issued from the Conservative headquarters in which he said that the Conservatives adhered to the tradition that criticism of the Government in foreign affairs must never be petty. Mr. SnoAvden at The Hague had benefited by that maxim. He was glad that Mr. Mac Donald was eoing to America, which had been his own intention if he had been returned to power. He wished the Prime Minister every success. Mr. Baldwin continued, that upon certain aspects of the foreign policy the Government must expect thorough discussion, as for example, Egypt, Palestine, Iraq, disarmament, and especially Russia. The Government must expect unqualified opposition unless Russia gave satisfactory guarantees respecting propaganda and intrigue. The Government's real test will come when it is faced with domestic problems, as for example, unemployment, pensions and miners' hours.
