CHINESE. WOMEN AND ALIMONY. "What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander," according to the decision of the Judicial Yuan at Shanghai, which will soon promulgate a new law to the effect that as husbands, divorced for cause, will have to pay alimony to their ex-wives, so erring wives, divorced for cause, will be liable to decrees ordering them to pay alimony to their husbands. The' Nanking Government has reached this decision in the course of working out new property and inheritance laws whicli are designed to give women legal equal: ity with men. ■ Already some organisations of women have adopted protests against; the proposal that ex-wives should ever be forced to pay alimony to former spouses. . ;■;«
