MR. J. J. REDMOND.

The death took place unexpectedly yesterday of Mr. John James Redmond, of Wailcaraka, at the age of 69 years. Born at Geelorig, Victoria, Mr. Redmond came to New Zealand when a boy. His parents settled at Hastings. Later Mr. Redmond became a jockey, and was well known throughout the Dominion as the winner of the Grand National Steeples in 1899. About six years ago Mr. Redmond went to Whangarei. He is survived by Mrs. Redmond and one son, Mr. T. F. Redmond, of Waikaraka.
