LADIES' GOLF.
N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP. FIEST ROUND RESULTS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The first round of the New Zealand ladies' golf championship was played in bad weather. The results of the morning round are:— Miss Upham beat Miss Pringle, 2 and 1; Miss O. Stevens beat Mrs. McCarthy, 4 and 3; Miss Payton beat Mrs. Slee, 5 and 4; Miss Richardson beat Miss Bell, 1 up; Mrs. Foreman beat Miss Hanson, 5 and 4, Miss Rathbone beat Miss Petrie, 3 and 2; Miss Cracroft-Wflson won by default from Miss E. Parsons; Miss Ivay beat Mrs. Kingscote, 2 and 1. At one stage in the championship matches hail came down heavily, and players were putting with hailstones lying so thickly on the green that it was almost impossible to accurately judge a long putt.
