TAKAPUNA BOROUGH.
STREET AND "SEWERAGE WORKS,
SALARY OF TOWN CLERK,
The Takapuna Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr. J. W. Williamson) • presiding. Dust Nuisance.—The recommendation of the Works Committee that tar sealing be done in front of four shops at the corner of Lake Road and Sanders Avenue if the shopkeepers concerned will contributed £12 towards tne cost was adopted. Wairau Creek Subdivisions.—lt was recommended that the question of all subdivisions on the Wairau Creek under the borough engineer's scheme be submitted to legal opinion. This was approved, Mr. Guiniven expressing the opinion that the legal advice should be supplied in writing in each instance. Sewerage Costs—The Bayswater and Belmont Progressive Association suggested that the cost of all sewerage work not on the property of the ratepayer seeking to be connected should be provided out of loan. The Finance and Legal Committee reported that_ this matter, together with other questions, had been referred to a special meeting of the council, to be held on October 2. Proposed Floral Fete. —The Parks Committee recomended that representatives of the four ratepayers' _ associations be requested to state their views regarding the holding of a floral fete during the summer. This was approved. _ Drainage Work. —It was decided to pro* ceed at once with necessary drainage work on the northern side of Preston Avenue. A sub-committee of the Works Committee was appointed to consider the question of kerbing and channelling the footpath on the eastern side of King > Edward Avenue from Birkley Road (from where started) to Victoria Road. Mr. Yerran, who spoke on behalf of a of residents, said the footpath was subject to deep cracks in the summer and was dangerous in wet weather. Cricket Facilities.—The Auckland Cricket Association asked whether Taharoto Park would again be available for matches between the Takapuna Cricket Club and other teams playing under the association. It was decided to grant the Town Clerk's Salary.—The council sat in committee for some time after the conclusion of the ordinary business. The increase of £50 in the salary of the town clerk was approved.
