Whangarei, and are staying at - the Settlers' Hotel; Mrs. A. V. Eraep; Auckland, has been in' Whangarei for' the golftournament. The Whangarei Comedy Club is rehearsing ~; t ho„ three-act,play, "The. Last of Mrs:" Cheney." ' Mr. Theo.' Tresize will arrive at the end of the month to direct the production. The finals : of the ladies' golf club championship, were played last Wednesday, the winner being Miss Doreen Stone, with Mrs. Gardner, runner-up. Dr. and Mrs. Hall are at the, Star Hotel, Auckland; Mrs. Fairfax Moresby has returned to Whangarei after visiting her people., in Taumarunui; Mrs. McKenzic, s'enr.', Auckland, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. I. F., McKeiizie, School Lane. ' Mrs. W. 13. Brabazon, Pentland Road, held a very enjoyable bridge party at her home last Wednesday afternoon. Three tables were engaged, the winners being Mesdames Crane, Campbell, Hunt and R. Harrison. On Tuesday evening last Mrs,, pccles, of Donald Street, gave a very enjoyable party in honour of her daughter Hilary's, birthday. The'evening waS spent'to [games and dancing, and a delightful' supper was served. Among the guests were:—Mr. and Mrs. Piper, Mr. and Mrs. J. ' The Whangarci branch of the St. John Ambulance held a very successful dance in the Y.M.C.A. hall last Thursday night. There was a large attendance and a very enjoyable time was spent by all present. Prior to the dance the members of the society were entertained to a dinner at the Settlers' Hotel. Among those present were the Mayor' and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. W. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. T. Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. McLeod, Mr. and Mrs. Ward, Mr. and Mrs. Nicliolls, Mr. and Mrs. S. Lowe.
