WATERED MILK.
"HASTE TO THE WEDDING." BRIDEGROOM LEAVES THE LIDS OFF. ; RUNCIMAN FARMER FINED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PAPAKURA, this day. In the Papakura Court to-day Mr. Levien, S.M., found that added water 12 per cent was in milk being taken from ifche farm of John T. Frost, of Runciman, to an Auckland firm of milk vendors on July 25. Frost was fined £4 and costs (£1 6/9). Inspector T. C. Thompson deposed that he took a sample from cans on a lorry which defendant's son was driving to ifrhe city. Analysis showed water as stated. For defendant Mr. G. N. Wallace explained that his son milked on the previous evening, defendant 'being in the city, where 'he was appearing before the Irtind Board. His son was married at 7 o'clock the same evening and in 'his haste left the lids off the milk cans. Heavy rain foil in the night, with the result that water got into the milk. Counsel produced a certificate showing that defendant was paid on the buttertfat content in his milk, so that he had no pecuniary gain from added water.
