WRESTLING.
JOHANSSON'S CHANCE TO-NIGHT. MATCH AGAINST N. SINGH. At the Town Hall to-night Wai Johansson, the Finnish light-heavy-weight, will bo given the chance to accomplish a task which has so f>r proved too big for any of the other overseas wrestlers at present in Auckland—that of beating Naranjan Singh. Johansson and Singh will meet in an eight-round match, promoted by the New Zealand Wrestling Association. When the Finn appeared in Auckland some weeks ago he was hampered by boils, but recently he went the full distance with Tom Alley, who has not yet met Singh, at Wellington, and the margin in the Mormon's favour was very small. Johansson is a bigger man that Farmer Vance and for this reason alone is considered to have a better chance of beating the formidable Indian. Both men have a large following of supporters and there is not likely to be many empty scats when the pair take the mat. In -support of the professional match, the following amateur bouts have been arranged:—L. Jellie, Bat 101b, v. Hill. Sst 01b; A. Webb, Sst 121b, v. Anderson,, Bst 121b; R. Paget, Oat 81b, v. H. Brewer, Ost Gib; Williamson, 9st 41b, v. F. Jackson, 9st 31b; aiid a special challenge match between K. Pilkington, Ost (51b, and G. Packenham, Ost 121b. Emergency bout: Bracc-Pinclcr, Gst 51b, v. R'icc, Gst 41b. On Tuesday of next week Vance will meet Clarence Eklund ill a match for the light-heavy-weight championship of tho world, and on October 7 Eklund will wrestle George Walker.
