TE AROHA TROTTING CLUB.
The annual meeting of the club is to be held on the 30th inst. The balance- ' sheet for the past year shows a loss of £120 S/2, against a net profit for the previous season or £733 7/. The lose is accounted fur mostlv by the increase in stakes paid, £2"0,' the loss of tctalisator revenue, , £187, and the grant of £361 1/4 to the ■ Te Aroha Jockey Club for course im- | provenieilts. The club, however, in still j in a very sound financial position, having accumulated funds of £1576 3/5, of which sum £700 is on loan to the Te Aroha Jockey Club, at call, at 5 per cent j interest. J In order that course improvements can ibe completed as early as possLMe and work gone on with immediately after the Jockey Club's race meeting on March 1 and 3, 1930. the committee has selected Saturday, January 25, 1930, as the date of the annual race meeting. Mr. Hunt, after holding the office of viceprecident for many years, has retired from office. The thanks of the club are due to him for the able assistance given by him at all times. The retiring officers, viz.: President, Mr. R. L. Somers; vice-presidents, Messrs. P. Baine, R. Burke and P. 1. Hunt; treasurer, Mr. Geo. H. Deverell; and four members of the committee, Messrs. 6. P. Goodfellow, T. J. Hickey, H. Jackson and Jas. Kenny, with the exception of Mr. Hunt, who did not ceek re-election, have been again nominated i for the various offices, and Mr. H. E. D. Willcox has been nominated for the vacant vice-presidency, and as the nominations do not exceed the vacancies these gentlemen are declared duly elected.
