SOUTHERN BUDGET.
RAPIER BOWLING ALONG NICELY. BULOLO MOVES ATTRACTIVELY. RED HECKLE AND SEA RAID IX FORM. (By Telegraph.—Special lo "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this clay. Rapier is bowling along in great style in liis work, and is putting plenty of dasli into his sprinting tasks. He is due to have a couple of six-furlong races, and lie may get some money before he tackles long journeys. Count C'avour looks as gay as a two-year-old, and his race at Ashburton on Saturday was evidence that he is far from done with in important events. Silver Paper created a good impression in a half-mile sprint this morning, as he was going very comfortably at the finish. His' half-sister Aspiring was alongside hum, but she was not doing her work so well at the end. Prickles looks particularly well after her race at Ashburton, and she will 'jc hard to beat in her next start. Money Order will be a starter in the sprint event on the first day of the Gerakline meeting this week, and will be ridden by C. Emerson. The brilliant Paper Money gelding has not had a race since last spring, and in the interval he has been operated on for throat trouble. Whether it will enable him to run out six furlongs solidly remains to be seen, but in the meantime all that has been demonstrated in his track work is that he retains his speed. Mr. J. H. Grigg, of Longbeacli, lias sold the grey mare Yellowhammer, with a colt foal at foot by Night Raid, to the Orari studmaster, Mr. G. A. Ivam. Yellowhammer was bred by Mr. Frank Armstrong (Hawke's Bay), and is by Mira from Yellow Bird, dam of Yellow and Black, and half-sister to Halberdier, a New Zealand Cup winner. s,
