CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR.
ANNUAL BANQUET.
There were over 150 people present last evening at the annual banquet of the New Zealand Christian Endeavour Alumni Association. Mr. T. Clark presided.
The national field secretary (Miss Jennie Street), who is assisting in the development of the New Zealand Union, commented upon the fellowship and hospitality which had been extended to her in New Zealand. She made an appeal to members of the alumni to get further into the lives of young people.
Other speakers during the evening were Mrs. A. E. Freeman, present at the first anniversary 37 years ago; Mr. John Graham, "the father" of Christian Endeavour in Auckland. Mrs. Freeman, now So years old, was the first lady president in New Zealand. Mr. Graham was the first president of the Ponsonby branch in 1892, and has been associated with the movement since that time. Mies Somerville and the Rev. Lionel Fletcher gave short addresses.
The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. T. Clark; vice-presidents, Rev. Lionel Fletcher, Rev. H. Knowles Kempton, Mr. G. Densem, Rev. W. A. Sinclair, Mrs. R. S. Abel; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. W. Cullen; committee, Miss Somerville, Mrs. Graham, Mrs. T. Clark, Mr. S. Barry, Mr. L. Stuart and the Rev. A. S, Wilson.
