PARLIAMENT TO BE TESTED
(British Official Wireless.)
(Received 12 noon.)
RUGBY, September 23
Mr. Ben Turner, Secretary for Mines, speaking at Sheffield during the weekend, announced that as soon as Parliament reopened steps would be taken to reduce the working hours of the miners. He said that Parliament would be tested on the matter, and none with any humanity could support a continuance of the e'iaht hour* measure. Mr. Turner declared that this measure, which had been passed in revenge by the Conservative Government, had had no successful results in its operation, and it was time that it went.
