SALE OF MOTOR CAR.
FALSE PRETENCE ALLEGED,
SEQUEX IN TAUMARUNUI.
CREDITORS' RESOLUTION.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
TAUMARTJNUS, this day.
Geoffrey Alva Trayhurn, general manager of Bishara Bros., garage proprietors, appeared in the Police Court to-day on a charge of obtaining a sum of £50 from Leonard James O'Reilly by a false pretence, namely, by not disclosing the fact that the motor car sold by him to O'Reilly was the property of General Motors.
Detective Walsh asked for a remand until Saturday. He said little was known about accused, who recently arrived in the Dominion, and he asked that bail be substantial. Bail was fixed at £100, and two sureties of £100 each, and accused was ordered to rejport daily to the police. The charge against Trayhurn has caused a sensation in the town in motor circles, following as it did on the arrival on Saturday of representatives of a well-known New Zealand motor company, who collected some 20 cars from local motorists and parked them in certain areas in the town.
The head representative of this firm refused to make a statement regarding the position that had arisen or the action that had been taken.
A private meeting of the creditors of Bishara Bros, was held to-day, over 50 creditors being present. It was resolved that Jack Bishara should file a petition in bankruptcy forthwith.
