Contract Let For 80-Storey
Building.
STRUCTURE 1000 FT HIGH.
(Australian and N.Z. Press- Association.) NEW YORK, September 2.3. A contract has been let by the Empire State, Incorporated, of which the former Governor of New York, Mr. Al. Smith, is president, to Starrett Brothers, for the construction of the world's highest office building on the site of the Wal-dorf-Astoria Hotel.
The -structure will be 1000 ft high, of 80 storey:-:, and will accommodate 50,000 office worker:-;. It is to be ready within two years.
