HENDERSON TOWN BOARD.

The Henderson Town Board held -its monthly meeting last night, Mr. W. R. T. Leigh ton' (chairman) presiding. The New Lynn Borough Council wrote in reference to the reconstruction of the Whau Creek Bridge that the Main Highways Board had agreed to bear 38 per cent of the cost of a bridge 50ft wide, the residue, 62 per cent, to be the concern of the local bodies interested. The council suggested that the Hendereop Town Board should provide 4 per cent of the residue, or 2% per cent of the total cost, and invited the board to agree to this proposal in order to facilitate the imihediate carrying out of the work. After som« discussion, the matter was deferred until further information could be obtained, the board considering that in relation to the amount of traffic to and from Henderson, the proportion allocated was too high. In reply to applications for a reduction in the valuation of certain farming lands in the Henderson district, the ValuerGeneral wrote that he was unable to make any reduction and the existing roll values would therefore remain unaltered. The foreman reported that he had inspected the whole of the water system, and the condition was quite satisfactory. The traffic inspector reported that 200 licenses for motor vehicles had been issued up to date.

It was agreed to place three extra electric lights on Valley Road. Mr. A. Ogilvie, late of Matamata, was appointed surfaceman and turncock.
