SIR G. CLAYTON APPOINTED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, October 8. Brigadier-General Sir Gilbert Claytonhas been appointed High Commissioner for Iraq in succession to Sir Henry Dobbs, who will vacate that office early next year. Sir G. Clayton, who is the foremost authority on Egyptian and Arabian affairs, recently conducted negotiations on behalf of Britain with Ibn Saud, the ruler of the Hedjaz and the Nedj of Arabia, on questions affecting the Iraq and Transjordan frontiers.
