GETTING IN EARLY.
MOVE TO THE BEACHES. DEMAND FOR SUMMER HOMES. Before many weeks slip by, Aucklanders will make our numerous seaside resorts where seclusion may be found by tired business folk their rendezvous. With the temperature on Saturday soaring to heights approaching that of last summer, thoughts turned lightly to prospects for the holiday season, and the surf. Many of the stouter hearts were even tempted to "break the ice." Refreshingly invigorating they found the briny, but the sun, which is strengthening with each succeeding day, was delightful in the extreme, and gave full recompense for the chilliness of the water. Estate agents in the city arc already being inundated with inquiries for residences, flats and baches at the beaches, particularly those that fringe the favoured shores of the Wuitemata. virile privately arrangements are hc'.ujr made to transfer from the y to the beach and vice versa. By the end of the month the real rush will set in, and at Christmas and New Year time suitable places will be at a premium. "There is an enormous number of people asking for renting propositions from the beginning of December onwards," said a land agent who deals extensively in seaside properties, this morning. "The majority, of course, want possession • just before Christmas when the school holidays begin, but quite a few are booking up as far ahead ins April. There are more applications than houses at the present time, although later on, when leases and sales are arranged, there should be room for everyone."
