MAORI ARTS AND CRAFTS ASSISTED. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The Supplementary Estimates provide additional votes totalling £257,418 in respect to the Consolidated Fund items, and £14,398 on the Public Works Fund. The sum of £15,000 is provided for additional subsidies to hospital boards. A further £200 is voted for the General Assembly library. There are substantial votes for Government Buildings throughoout New Zealand, £2000 being provided for courthouses, £4350 for departmental buildings, and £8000 for mental hospitals. Niue Island fruitgrowers are to receive £288 for losb of fruit on the motor ship Maui Pomare, £60 is voted for inquiry into that loss, and there is a £1000 grant towards the purchase of fruit graders for Cook Islands. Erection of accommodation at Makogai for lepers is to cost £1000. />«Ann A compassionate allowance of xrfuuu is provided for the widow of the late Sir William Sim, Supreme Court judge. Increased Police Expenditure. The increase of one shilling a day given to police constables entails an additional £16,972, a total of 930 officers receiving the rise. Increases in salaries for all ranks have resulted in a total extra Police Department vote of £21,544.
