FIRST DAY'S PLAY. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Monday. The championship tourney of the Hamilton Ladies' Golf Club was opened at St. Andrew's links to-day in weather characterised by a strong north-westerly. Among the 130 competitors in the Ellis Cup pompetition was Miss Chrystall, the lady champion, who did tjie best round of the day, returning a card of 81. The sixteen who qualified for the Ellis Cup competition were:—Miss O. Kay (Dunedin), 86; Miss Gaisford (Marton), 86; Miss Acheson '(Nelson), 87; Miss Culling (Auckland), 88; Mrs. Milroy
(Hamilton), 89; .Miss Masters (Hamilton), 89; Mrs. Slee (Westport), 89; Mrs. Hosking (Auckland), 89; Miss Wilkinson (Hamilton), 90; Mrs. J. Wilson (Auckland), 91; Miss McNaughton (Morrinsville), 91; Miss N. Beverley (Matamata), 92; Miss Rathbone (Auckland), 92; Miss Buddie (Auckland), 92; Mrs. Mander (Hamilton), '92; Miss Brewster (New Plymouth), 92. The morning silver medal handicap was won by Miss J. Masters, a young Hamilton player, 89—16—73. Miss McNaughton, 91—17 —74, was runner-up. Miss J. Easton won the bronze medal handicap, with a score of 99—26—73. Two bogey handicaps were played. The senior match was Won bp jlisg Wallace, 1 up. D. Horton was all square, and Misses V. Russell and Given were 2 down. The junior match was won by Mrs. Chamherlain, 1 down. Misses Primrose t and EI. Oliver were 2 down. In the putting" competition Mrs. W. J. King and Miss Brewster tied for first place and Miss Scott was second.
OKOROIRE CLUB.
TIRAU, Monday. The second round of the Okoroire Club's senior championship resultedP. W. Hutchison beat X. Wallace, 4 and 2: H. Stevens heat Jones. 1 up: Johnson beat E. Harwood, 1 np: W.
