OPEN ON LABOUR DAY.
CITY SWIMMING BATHS. TWO FILTRATION PLANTS. COMMITTEE ACCEPTS TENDER. Tenders for the installation of chlorination plants at the Parnell and Shelly Beach baths were considered by the Parks Committee of the Auckland City Council this afternoon. The tender of Candy Filters (N.Z.), Ltd., was accepted at £445 for the two plants, plus £28 extra for cylinders, making a total of £473 for the work complete. It was reported that the instruments are in Auckland and that immediately on the completion of the buildings to iyjlise the plants the installation will be carried out. The time allowed for the work is four days. It was further, reported that Dr. Hughes, Medical Officer of Health, offered no objection to the baths being opened on Labour Day. October 22. The suggestion came from the committee that the plant at Parnell should bo installed first. This proposal was agreed to. For the sole right of selling ice-cream, soft fruit and sweets from a stall in the Point Chevalier reserve, the tender of 6. Miles and G. Hunt of £156 per annum for two years was accepted.
