MAUKU CLUB. PUKEKOHB, this day. The tennis season was officially opened at Waiuku on Saturday afternoon, the visitors including members of the Mangere, Puni, Buckland, Waiuku, West End and Pukekohe Clubs. Mr. J. S. Daries, president of the Mauku Club, declared the courts open for play, and Mra Davies served the first ball. A progressive tennis tournament was then held. The occasion was marked by the presentation to Mr. Davies of a fountain pen, as a token of appreciation by the members of his services to the club during the many years he has been president. The'presentation was made on behalf of the club by Mrs. L. V. Zlnsan, . the oldest member. BUCKLAND CLUB. PUKEKOHB, this day. The Buckland Tennis Club's courts were declared .open for the season on Saturday afternoon by Mr. S. C. Schofleld, president, in the presence of a good attendance, which Included representatives of the Mauku, Pukekohe Hill. Pukekohe, Pukekohe East and Tuakau Clubs. Play was opened by Mrs. Conelly, who served the first ball. PUKEKOHE HILL CLUB. PUKEKOHE, this day. The Pukekohe Hill Tennis Club held Its official opening for the season on Saturday afternoon. There was a gathering of about 70 persons at the courts for the occasion, including visitors from West End, St James* and Pukekohe Clubs. The president of the HOI Club, Mr. A. Donald, made the opening speech, and Miss N. Donald served the first bslL IfATAMATA CLUB. MATAMATA, Sunday. - The official opening «f the Matamata Tennis Club took place "yesterday, when Dr. T. J. Laurensoh. in the absence of the president, Mr. L. Flower, w^ n «rf" unusually large number of visitors. Mere were 120 players. Mrs. Laurenson piayea the first ball over the net.
