NOTES FROM ELLERSLIE.

Storm Fiend injured his eye very; severely while at EUerslie on Saturday morning. He has been withdrawn fromthe Gordon Handicap to-day. Yesterday morning at EUerslie Commendation was responsible for one of the best gallops that have been recorded on the No. 2 grass track for some considerable time. He was sent over a round, and the distance, just short of, a mile, in 1.42. He was going exceptionally well throughout. _ Star Stranger and Valkon were associated in a gallop over seven furlongs on the No. 1 grass track at EUerslie this morninjr. running the distance in 1.29. Star Stranger began well, -and was in front throughout, although .there was not much between them at the finish. Sir Archie was sent a mile, and ran the distance in 1.47. He did his work pleasingly. H. Dulieu. who was riding RafFerty when that borse fell in the Hunters* Steeplechase, was not seriously hurt, and will be able to fulfil his riding engagements to-morrow. Midget has foaled a bav colt to Quin Abbey, Perseis a bay colt to Lackham, and Orphieum a bay colt to Romeo. All »are to be mated with Romeo this season. ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS.
