WHEEL AND SADDLE.
EPSOM TRAINING NOTES. A QUIET HORNING. The feature of the work at Epsom this morning was a mile and a half by Etta Cole and the Derby candidate, Trustworthy. The track was in good order, but the majority of horses were asked go go only at half pace. Trustworthy, umioppled and driven oy Brady, was joggeu around in company witn Etta Cole (Gilchrist). After ueing warmed up, tne pair stepped away at tne mile and a half post, Trustwortiiv having about a lengtu the best of it. rhey ran like this lor just over a mile when Etta Cole moved up alongside Trustworthy and the pair were together as they turned for home. In the run up the straight Etta Cole was much too good for Trustworthy, who tired, and uitta Cole was going easily at the end about a length in front. The daughter of Peterwah not only trotted solidly all the way, but the time was particularly smart tor one racing in her class. Western King and Jewel Pointer were worked out over two miles. They were always going at an easy pace, and Ribbonwood's Last joined in over the last mile. All moved freely, but the speed was not right on at any part. Native Prince was given useful work with the hopples. Koro Peter trotted nicely oyer a couple of rounds, sprinting an odd furlong at intervals. Great Change put in several rounds, trotting well within himself and doing his work right. This horse has nevre been going better than at present. The trotter Great Way and the pacer Peter Lloyd were worked together by H. Kinnamont over a mile and a half. The pair moved nicely but the time was not fast. The grey Chrystal was strapped up and driven by H. Kinnamont. He moved freely and paced well m the task allotted him. Haerenga Pai (Phipps) is beginning to bear a brighter appearance. She was given useful work this morning and should be all right when the country fixtures come along. W. Clifton worked his pair, Dad's Hope and Halgana, without the straps. Margaret Wallace (Sandall) was allowed to run along well within herself. The Derby candidate Belle Axworthy, who met with an injury, is being sent home to Matamata to-morrow and will be turned out for a lengthy spell.
