OBITUARY.
MR. F. WILSON SMITH. A well-known and highly respected member of the legal profession, Mr. F. Wilson Smith, died on Friday at his home, Mt. Hobson Road, Remuera, aged 63 years. For some years past Mr. Wilson Smith has been in poor health, but it was only about twelve months j ago that he retired from active practice, j He was born in Yorkshire, England, and | came to New Zealand with his parents in 1876 i He was admitted as a solicitor jin 1887, and a barrister in 1809. Mr. Wilson Smith practised at Geraldine for some time,. and in 1897 removed to Auckland. Mrs. Wilson Smith survives her husband. There are the following children: Mr. F. Wilson Smith, of Matamata; Mesdames A. Bremner, of Auckland; A. M. Nicholson, of Timaru; and Miss M. Wilson Smith, of Auckland.. Mr. Wilson Smith was one of the founders of the Auckland Co-operative I Terminating Building Society, and acted as its solicitor until his retirement from business when the directors appointed him honorary counsel to the society and voted him a handsome bonus. He had been a member of the Auckland Club for some 30 years, and was a past president of the "Auckland Yorkshire Society." He has been an active member of Masonic bodies since 1892—beinc a past-master of Lodge Maungawhau. No. ltiS, a member of Lodge Ara, No. 1. and a life member of the Auckland Masonic Institute and Club. Also a member of Remuera Bowling Club. In his Canterbury days he represented South Canterbury in cricket, Rugby football and tennis. °
