FIRES.
COTTAGE AT THAMES LOST. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. Two outbreaks of fire occurred early on Sunday morning in a four-roomed dwelling in Upper Albert Street, occupied by Mr. G. Burns. He and his wife and child escaped with a few belongings. The first outbreak was at 2 a.m. The fire brigade was called, and it succeeded in saving the front portion of the house. At 6 a.m. the house was found ablaze again, and the brigade was recalled. The house was owned by J. Bailey, of the King Country. Mr. Burns' property was not insured, but some of it was saved.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Sunday. Seven outbreaks of fire occurred at Dunedin during the week-end. Only one was of a serious nature. A four-roomed house which had been unoccupied for a fortnight was burned to the ground.
