SOUTHERN RIVERS FLOODED.
CLUTHA AND KAWARAXJ.
MINING RACE DAMAGED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Heavy rains in the back country of Otago Central have put both the Clutha and Kawarau rivers in high flood. The Kawarau has risen 28ft in three days; The Cromwell Development Company's work in the Kawarau River has been thrown out of commission by a wide break in the main race. About three chains of the outside wall was carried completely away. The repairs will be costly, and will take a long time.
The rain has ceased, and both rivers were falling this morning.
