SUMMER FROCK.
A successful dance was held in the Mutual Club rooms, Palmerston#Buildings, last evening. The Felix Trio provided the latest dance items. The lounge was arranged in mauve stocks and yellow narcissi. The hostesses for the evening were Mrs. W. F. Allen and Mrs. Von Stunner. Among the many pretty gowns were: Mrs. A. McGregor, in shell pmk taffeta;" Mrs. Von Sturmer, jade and gold georgette; Miss Bowden, mauve and floral georgette with jade shawl; Mrs. F. Allen, flesh chiffon worked in diamante, deep black satin border ; Mrs. L. Cooper, figured jade green georgette and velvet; Miss Campbell, coral taffeta; Mrs. Campbell, flame and blue flowered ninon; Miss Waters, white taffeta and silver lace; Miss Henley, silver lame with long silver fringe; Mrs. Smallfield, cream silk lace, apple green shawl; Miss D. Nutsford, gold lace frock; Miss Glady Browne, black georgette and lace with small gold thread flowers; Mrs. Olsen, black ring velvet; Mrs. Menzies, black mirror velvet and lace; Miss Peterson, black georgette and floral silk; Miss Owen, black silk velvet; Mrs. F. Westman, cherry georgette worked in gold; Miss Waite, black soft silk worked in flowers and lace hem; Miss R. Purdie, primrose crepe de chine, gold beads and black shawl; Miss C. Purdie, rose crepe de chine and opalescent sequins; Mrs. Collins, rose pink taffeta and lace; Mrs. Dowding, turquoise blue panne bodice, pleated satin skirt; Mrs. W. Wendall, flame taffeta and silk laee hem; Mrs. S. Beattie, briar rose and silver beaded georgette; Miss Moore, powder blue georgette and lace; Mrs. W. Rawlinson, flame chiffon and gold embroideries; Miss E. Thompson, red velvet and cream lace bands; Mrs. Miller, pastel blue satin and gold lace.
The first meeting of the social club of the Little Theatre Society took place on Wednesday evening in the Amateur Operatic Society's Hall. There was a good attendance, and a most enjoyable time was spent. During the evening a programme of short plays, produced by Mrs. Bartley-Baxt6r, was presented. In the first, a smart little comedy entitled "Powder, Rouge and Lipstick," the parts were taken by Mrs. Bartley-Baxter and Mr. Fryer Raisher. "Lovin' and Obeyin'" was equally successful, the players being Miss Aiha Hacket, Mr. Alan McElwain, Mr. Nigel Williams and Mrs. Bartley«axter. Songs were sung by Mr. Edward Churchouse, and Miss Daphne Higham gave violin solos.
