O'Reilly, Westmere, Wanganui. • » • • Air Marshall Sir John Salmond flew on Saturday from Christchurch to Timaru to visit his cousin, Miss Salmond, principal of " Craighead," Timaru. * * * * Mrs. P. J. Crump, of Auckland, and her daughter, are visiting Wanganui, and are the guests of Mrs. Crump's sister, Mrs. W. L. Burgess. • • • • Miss Bettina Edwards, the talented young dancer, left to-day for Sydney, where she will enter the musical comedy world. * * • # Mrs. Claude Sawtell, of Christchurcl}, who presented the travelling art scholarship to that city, is visiting Wellington as the guest of Professor and Mrs. Tennant. * # t • Miss Nell Blair, daughter of Mr. Justice Blair and Mrs. Blair, has reached London, and will shortly leave for Paris to continue her art studies, staying with Miss D. Pollen, who has been resident in Paris for some years, states "The Evening Post." * ♦ t # Her Excellency Lady Alice Fergusson left Wellington by the Limited express on Tuesday night, en route, to Rotorua, whence she will cross through the heart of the Urewera country to Gisborne. She was accompanied by Miss Dugdale, and expects to return to Wellington by Wednesday week. * * * # Miss B. E. Baughan has resigned her post as secretary of the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Howard League for Penal Reform, to the general regret of all interested in this work. The fact is that now all officers of the Dominion executive must reside in Wellington and Miss Baughan prefers to still live in Christchurch. She will, however, continue as secretary for the Christchurch branch. ' l ;
