TAKAPUNA SURF CLUB.
GOOD PROGRESS MADE. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Members of the Takapuna Surf and LifeSaving Club met last evening, the Mayor of Takapuna (Mr. J. W. Williamson) presiding. A report on the work of the club since its inception in March last, stated that much ground had been covered by the emergency committee. At the invitation of the Milford Surf Club, members of the committee had attended nearly every practice at Milford, with the result that they had received a good grounding in surf reel work and the methods of reecue and resuscitation favoured by the Royal Life Saving Society. Eight members of the club had gained proficiency certificates. while three had also wojn bronze medallions and two instructor's certificates. Money had been raised at two dances during the season for the purchase of a surf reel in Sydney, but the money had since been refunded by the Takapuna Council. The club, the report seated, had leased a boat 6lied at the foot of the Strand, to 6erve as headquarters for the next two seasons, by which time it was hoped the club would be in a position to have a home of its own.
