FAREWELL RADIO ADDRESS,
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, this day. After returning from Christchurch yesterday Squadron-Leader Kings ford Smith and Mr. H. A. Litchfield went to a cottage in the Sounds, where they are spending the day. Dr. Kidson's latest bulletin indicates fthat the disturbance in the Tasman may clear within a few hours and conditions should be favourable for the BlenheimSydney Hight during the week-end. As the decision to fly will probably (be made following a favourable set of evening weather reports, which are received here between 5 and 6 o'clock, almost twelve hours' notice can be given to Blenheim people and listeners-in all ©ver New Zealand. A cable will be dispatched to the naval authorities in Australia immediately the reports are good, that one of the vessels of the Australian Navy may leave port and steam out; along the line of flight. On the evening preceding the takeoff the Defence Department's big searchlight will play across the sky from 6.45 to 7 p.m. The news will also be' sent out from 2YA and other stations, and a full service will be given by the Broadcast Company during the flight period. Just prior to climbing to the cockpit the co-pilots ;jrill broadcast a farewell message to New' Zealand. If present arrangements are followed this will be at about 4.45 a.m.; but the hour may be altered to suit conditions. It 3s expected that, early though" the start will be, Blenheim people will turn Out Sn force to say farewell.
