MAIN SOUTH ROAD.

ONE BIG LOAN SUGGESTED.

FIVE YEARS TOO LONG. EARLIER COMPLETION URGED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. One big loan to concrete the main highway between Hamilton and Auckland was suggested three years ago by the Hamilton agency of the Auckland Automobile Association. During a recent conference between the executive of the agency and of the Auckland A.A.A., the suggestion was again made. Speaking at a meeting of the Hamilton agency last night, Dr. A. G. Waddell declared that the five years set down as the term for completing the road under the highways scheme, was much too long. It was desirable that it shou'd be finished much earlier. Personally he considered that as the country was paying millions a year in interest and sinking fund on road loans, with no permanency of roads, it would be far more economical to raise a huge loan to concrete the main roads of the countrv. It was decided to suggest to the Government the raising of sufficient capital moneys to enable the main south road between Hamilton and Auckland to he completed at a much earlier period than five vears.
