WANGANTJI RATEPAYERS. RATE NOTICES NOT ISSUED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WANGANUI, this day. The City Council is appealing to ratepayers, in their own interests, to pay part of their rates. Owing to the delay caused through the prolonged sittings of the Assessment Court, it will be some time yet before the rate notices can be sent out. Last year notices were sent out on August 20, and the last day on which the discount of 5 per cent was allowed was October 3.. by which date the council had received £76,000 in rates. Up to the present only £5500 in rates on account has beerr received, and it is costinp the ratepayers £10 per day in interest on the bank overdraft.
