Wild Clashes Between Religious
Fanatics.

DELHI, September 30.
Serious clashes occurred between Hindus and Mohammedans resulting in a large number of casualties at the celebration of the Ganpati, a Hindu festival in centres of Bombay province.
At Surat and Nasik several police officers, including Europeans, were injured while attempting to separate fanatical, religious opponents.
At Nasik. Hindus attacked a mosque while Moslems were at prayer. A mob of 10,000 assembled and a threatening situation developed, but the crowd was persuaded to disperse.
At Surat the police were forced to open fire and disperse the rioters who stoned a Hindu procession. There were many casualties and a tense situation prevails. There was rioting also at Poona, where Moslems refused to o' 2y a police order to disperse and a fracas between Sikhs and Moslems at Hyderabad, in Deccan, to which place armed troops have been sent.
