SERVICES RECOGNISED.

MR. T. G. WILKES FAREWELLED.

During the interval of the principal same on Blandford Park on Saturday, Mr. T. G. Wilkes, a member of the management committee of the A.F.A. and of the Referees Association, and who has been a most enthusiastic worker for the code in Auckland for the past five years, was made the recipient of ft beautiful gold-mounted fountain pen from his colleagues on the management committee and friends on the eve of his departure for Wellington. In the unavoidable absence of Mr. Andrew Menzies, chairman, Mr. R. P. Harrison made the presentation. He referred to the self-sacrificing energies Mr; Wilkes had thrown into his work on behalf of the code in Auckland as a referee and as an administrator, and to the loss the A.P.A. would sustain by his transfer south. While they could only congratulate him on advancement in his career, it was with mixed feelings they bade au revoir to a willing helper, both on and off the field of play. All wished him every success and prosperity in his new sphere, but at the risk of being considered selfish they also hoped the time might not be far distant when further promotion might guide his destinies to Auckland again. The gift which he then handed him was only a small indication and reminder of the wealth of good wishes that went with. him in lub new sphere from his Soccer friends. A pleasant' little function closed with cheers for Mr. Wilkes.
