PT. CHEVALIER BATHS.
ANOTHER MOVE MADE.
ATTITUDE OF MINISTER.
PREPARED TO ISSUE LICENSE. As a sequel to the city ratepayers refusing to sanction a loan for the building of hatha at Point Chevalier, the matter of providing baths there has been advanced another stage as tihe outcome of Mr. E. H. Northcroft, acting on behalf of Dixieland Baths, Limited, communicating with the Minister of Marine. The followng telegram was sent to the Minister by Mr. Northcroft: "Dixieland, Limited, are anxious to learn as early as possible your decision in regard to the application for authority to erect baths at Point Chevalier. The company desire to commence operations as early as possible, so as to have the structure completed for the approaching bathing season." The Secretary of Marine has replied: "The Minister of Marine directs me to advise you that he is prepared to issue a license for the erection of baths on Point Chevalier Beach in front of the company's own property. The injunction against erection on the site originally approved cannot be ignored so long as it exists. The consent of the Auckland City Council to erection of baths on the original site would not affect the position, unless the injunction were formally discharged."
