L.M.S. MEETING.
CONGREGATIONAL SUNDAY SCHOOLS. In the new hall off Beresford Street Congregational Church a united gathering of the Sunday schools of that denomination was addressed yesterday afternoon by the Rev. H. W. Wliyte, M.A., who for 20 years has worked under the London Missionary Society in Southern India. There were about 500 scholars present. Some thirty children were dressed in different national costumes. The Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher presided, and with the visitor was decked with garlands of flowers in the Indian custom, by Miss Zelada Rogers, of Green Lane Congregational Sunday school. This young lady also welcomde Mr. Wliyte on behalf of the scholars. Tlie girls of Devonport Congregational Sunday school gave an interesting dialogue. Mr. Whyte also spoke on the work of the L.M.S. in Southern India, in a manner that held the attention of the scholars.
The cause of unemployment and the remedy will be discussed by Captains Colbeck and Rushworth, of the Auckland Provincial Farmers' Union, in the concert chamber of the Town Hall to-morrow evening. Both aro members of the executive, and each of them has decided to contest the forthcoming elections. Other matters which will be touched on are taxation and kindred subjects from the farmers' point of view. The Mayor will preside.
