STRONG SULPHUR FUMES.
EFFECT ON OPOTIKI. I ATMOSPHERE ALL BLUE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKI, this day. Sulphur fumes from White Island were very strong in Opotiki this morning. The atmosphere appeared blue in all directions, and almost obscured the hills south of the town. When seen .from the hills early this morning, White Island was active.
